This is a post that I wrote on LinkedIN yesterday explaining what we are going through as a business during this second wave of pandemic in India!
Here is the post that I wrote-
Our business at Aweri Foods has slumped this month.
Sales of our dates pickle is down from 6-10 jars a day to the same number a week and I see this getting worse going forward owing to the 2nd wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.
We thank our repeat customers for ordering and supporting us.
Capitalism dictates that we as a business should keep pushing our product, keep generating sales, try and make profits.
But somewhere inside my heart, it feels immoral to push our product to a potential customer who could be a victim of direct or indirect stress caused by the pandemic.
Moreover, it’s hard to convince people to buy from an independent website like ours when platforms like Amazon and Flipkart have stopped deliveries due to lockdowns/curfews in many cities.
This is the first time we are facing the pain of being a small business having fixed costs(rent and salary) but limited capital.
Losses are going to cut deep for a couple of months at least.
Here’s to being strong, to all other small businsses out there and to all the people who have been under stress because of the pandemic.
We’ll fight this out!
